Hydrotherapy, or aquatic therapy, can have many benefits for dogs, including:
Reduced stress on joints
The buoyancy of water reduces the stress on a dog's joints and limbs, allowing them to move more freely and without discomfort. This can be especially beneficial for dogs with joint disorders like arthritis or dysplasia.
Improved range of motion
Swimming helps dogs move in a different way than they would on land, which can improve their range of motion and flexion. This can be helpful for dogs recovering from muscle contracture or orthopedic conditions.
Increased strength and stamina
Hydrotherapy provides a low-impact workout that can help dogs build strength, coordination, and stamina. It can also help dogs with elbow dysplasia strengthen muscles around their joints, which can reduce discomfort and strain.
Pain relief
recovery from surgery or injury
Weight loss
Hydrotherapy can help dogs lose weight or manage their weight
